Get Your Kids to Clean Up Throughout the Day

If you cannot see the floor in your child’s room, it might have been quite awhile since they cleaned. You would be overwhelmed and frustrated if you needed to clean your house after days or even weeks without cleaning. This is how your child feels if you let them mess up their room to this point. Instead of letting it get that bad before saying something, you should have your children do some cleanup work each day.

You can ask your kids to pick up their toys and any other things they have strewn across the room and throughout the house at least twice a day. One idea is to have your kids pick up a little after they play for a couple hours in the morning. You can then ask your children to clean up their room a bit before they go to bed. It might help your kids to keep their room clean by having them do some quick cleanup work even a third time during the day.

It is ok to allow your children to play for awhile before picking up their toys. If they are playing nicely, it is not such a bad thing to let them have multiple toys out at one time. However, once they take a break from playing for awhile, it is a good idea to encourage them to start cleaning up. They can put away some of their toys before getting out more.

You should also have a time or two during the day when your kids can help you pick up a little around the house too. The house will not get to be too much of a mess, if you work as a family to pick up after yourselves throughout the day. Give your children tasks and chores that will fit with their particular age range.

Instead of waiting until your kids have a room that is a disaster, encourage them to pick up after themselves throughout the day to make it easier to stay clean.
